MONROE, N.C. (WBTV) - A pig that was caught near a Union County high school Monday is back home after he “slipped out of custody” once again on Thursday morning, according to police.

The hog, which was previously captured on Monday, May 5, near Monroe High School, escaped again near East Franklin Street and McLarty Street on Thursday, May 8.

On Friday, May 9, officers said the animal was safely being rehomed where he could be better contained.

Video posted by the police department showed the pig dodging multiple officers.

On Monday, after officers safely captured the big fella, they said they moved him to the Union County Animal Shelter, where he awaited his owner.

It wasn’t made immediately clear how he was able to escape.
