Video shows 2 homes destroyed by tornado in Shelby

SHELBY, NC (AP) - National Weather Service investigators have confirmed a tornado was responsible for damage to mobile homes and other structures north of Shelby.

The twister struck a rural part of Cleveland County on Saturday during the series of storms that hit the Charlotte region. Read related story about storm damage.

The tornado began just before 5 p.m. and brought maximum winds of 80 mph. It moved southeast for about a half-mile before lifting.

One man was hurt when the tornado flipped his mobile home and a second mobile home was also overturned.  (Click in our Video Gallery on the right to see video from Lem Lynch Photography.) 

There were minor damages to other homes and a roof was blown off a shed.
