(CNN) — Multiple sources say conspiracy theorists are wrong, and actor Jim Carrey accepted his own award in France last week.

Some believe a look-alike took his place.

Carrey’s representative and the general delegate of the awards show both say the person on stage was Carrey.

César Award general delegate Gregory Caulier made his assertion in a statement to Variety.

Many fans took to social media to say Carrey looked different than usual.

His new look has prompted discussion about whether Carrey has had plastic surgery or whether the person at the event was even him.
