ELLENBORO, N.C. (WBTV) - A pig wandered into an Ellenboro home on Monday, Feb. 16, deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a social media post.

The suspect swine appeared to be highly snack-motivated, according to deputies.

“After a short standoff involving a pack of crackers and some highly questionable negotiations, deputies successfully convinced the sus-pig-ious individual to surrender,” deputies wrote.

The pig was released without bond.

The responding deputy, whose job description surely did not include “pig wrangling,” could be seen lifting the portly pig away from the home and toward the back of his cruiser.

The pig was not harmed and was taken to Rutherford County Animal Control Services until her owner could retrieve her.

The department did not comment on how the deputy’s back was feeling the next day.
