New AI, cloud data support center to bring 1,100+ jobs to Rowan County
Jobs for manufacturing, engineering professionals
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - More than 1,100 new jobs are coming to Rowan County as a manufacturing facility moves into the area.
Jabil Inc. will invest about $500 million throughout the next several years to open a manufacturing facility that will support cloud and AI data center customers, Governor Josh Stein announced on Monday, June 30.
The company has three locations already in North Carolina: Asheville, Hendersonville and Mebane. The Rowan County location will create about 1,181 jobs.
The announcement comes about two weeks after the company announced its decision to expand its footprint across the Southeast.
According to Stein, Jabil will create job opportunities for skilled manufacturing and engineering professionals, creating an annual payroll impact of more than $73.2 million across the area.
The expansion comes as part of a Job Development Investment Grant, which was approved on Monday by the North Carolina Economic Investment Committee.
