Statesville officer charged with assault, domestic violence
Officer on paid administrative leave
STATESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Statesville police officer was charged in an alleged domestic violence incident.
Statesville Police Chief David Onley said that Officer Anthony Jerome Irving was arrested on Dec. 30, 2024, and charged with misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and assault on a female by a male over 18 years of age.
Irving, who was hired in February of 2024, was placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted.
“The Statesville Police Department is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” Olney wrote in a press release about the arrest. “Any allegations of criminal behavior involving our personnel are taken with the utmost seriousness and will be addressed appropriately.”
He is scheduled to appear in court in January.
