CMPD detectives are still digging for details in the murder of insurance auditor Sallie Rohrbach.  The Raleigh woman vanished on May 14 while on a business trip to Charlotte. Days later police arrested Michael Howell, a SouthEnd insurance agent, and charged him with her murder.   What's still unclear is how Rohrbach was killed and what was the motive.

Investigators do say Rohrbach was investigating Howell's business.  Many customers we have spoken with have serious complaints with his agency.  Some say the paid their bills then later found out they weren't covered.  One long time customer finally decided to take her business elsewhere, even though she says "It was very hard, because I like him -- he's such a nice guy."

If police are right, Howell is not such a nice guy.  They're not saying where the murder took place.  And, even though Rohrbach's body was discovered on Vista Road in Fort Mill, investigators have seemed to focus their investigation on Howell's office in Charlotte.  It was the last place Rohrbach was known to be and friends say Howell usually kept two guns in the building for protection.
