CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A year after setting the program's single season digs record, Charlotte's Yumi Garcia has been named to the Conference USA preseason team.
Garcia popped up 617 digs in her first season with the 49ers last year topping the old nine-year-old mark by 46 digs.
It was the 13th-most digs in a single C-USA season averaging 5.27 digs/set which also led the league.
All led to C-USA's Libero of the Year honors at year's end.
"We are thrilled to see Yumi acknowledged for her performance this past year and moving ahead," stated Head Coach Karen Weatherington.

The 49ers will look to improve on their showing as the 8th seed last season bringing back a core of nine returners, along with Garcia, while welcoming seven newcomers.
Charlotte will begin the 2018 season in just two weeks hosting the Charlotte Invitational August 24th and 25th inside Halton Arena.
