BREAKING: An officer in Caldwell county is in the hospital after being shot. We got to the scene soon after the call came in. WBTV's Steve Ohnesorge has details on how the deputy was still injured, even though he was wearing a bullet proof vest.

VIDEO ALERT: We have dramatic video to show you of a huge house fire. This story broke overnight while you were sleeping. Flames were seen shooting from roof of the home in Charlotte. WBTV's Caroline Hicks has details on the effort to put these flames out and how the family inside escaped.

With just a few hours until Charlotte City Council is expected to meet on whether to formally accept the Republican National Convention. We're learning more on the possible contracts that will be included with commitment to host of the RNC.
