Good morning!  Kristen Miranda with you on this Friday morning and you will need a jacket as you walk out the door.  It is a very cold start to the day and I know you're wondering if it will stay that way all day.  I just spotted Al Conklin in the studio fine tuning the forecast and he'll let us know how much of a warm-up we'll see.

Our reporter Caroline Hicks spent part of her night on the scene of a crash involving a CATS bus in Charlotte.  Five people were taken to the hospital after the bus and a car collided.  She will share new video with us starting at 5:00am.

Charlotte will get a visit from the Vice President today.  Mike Pence will hold a panel discussion on tax reform and you can still get tickets.  We'll also talk this morning about what his arrival means for traffic in and around the area of the event.

It is another walk-out day for students across the country on what is the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting in Colorado.  We asked some of the big districts in our area how they plan to handle it if students leave the classroom.

As the outpouring of tributes continues for Barbara Bush, the general public can pay its respects to the former first lady.  Her body will lie in repose at a church in Houston starting at noon today until midnight tonight.  We're also learning more about the funeral set for tomorrow.

Did you catch the Panthers season lineup announcement?  The season opener is at home for the first time in a long time...and you've heard who the team is playing, right?

Plus, should high school football have instant replay?

And we're asking you this morning whether you prefer the beach or the mountains as a summer vacation spot?  It is our viewer vote and you can participate by going to or using the WBTV News app.

It is almost the weekend!  Let us help you start your Friday right.  We'll see you when you wake up.
