Sheriff: Two charged, drugs, guns, stolen items seized from Rowan home
SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Two people were charged after a search of a home on Stokes Ferry Road in Rowan County.
The search took place Thursday and the information was released on Sunday evening by Captain John Sifford of the Rowan Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday, deputies and the United States Department of Homeland Security executed a state search warrant at a home in the 6700 block of Stokes Ferry Road.
According to investigators, the residence was the home of Daniel Dewayne Wood, aka "Big D," age 39, and his wife, Sherry Lynn Wood, age 43.
During the past year, deputies had been looking into allegations of Daniel Woods' involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine and prescription narcotics, as well as the purchasing of large amounts of firearms.
Daniel Wood, who had been previously convicted in the Rowan County Superior Court in 2006 for felony cocaine possession, was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.
During the search of the residence Thursday, deputies say they found approximately 61 grams of methamphetamine ice, 641 tablets of oxymorphone, 90 tablets of tapentadol, 151 tablets of clonazepam and 25 dosage units of naloxone.
Deputies said that evidence uncovered during the investigation showed that Wood was obtaining some of the prescriptions legally from a pain clinic in Salisbury, and then selling his medications.
Drug ledgers describing the sales of prescription drugs were found inside the home, according to the report.
Investigators located a total of 27 handguns, rifles, including assault weapons and shotguns from the residence, as well as thousands of rounds of ammunition.
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is presently attempting to determine if any of the weapons were stolen.
Investigators also found approximately $13,000 cash and a stolen Kawasaki dirt bike. Two motorcycles and a pickup truck were also seized from the home, which investigators say were proceeds of drug trafficking.
Daniel Wood was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking opium, possession of firearm by felon and maintaining a dwelling to keep and sell controlled substances. His bond was set at $500,000.
Sherry Wood was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling to keep and sell controlled substances. Her bond was set at $25,000.
