CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It's been months since 23-year-old Tru Quan "Sandy" Le was found dead in the 11800 block of Plaza Road Extension, near I-485.

In the weeks prior, Le was reported missing by her family.

"August 9th was the date that I was contacted by Sandy's family," said Jennifer Simmons with Justice Served Private Investigations.

Since that late summer day in 2016, the disappearance and death of Sandy Le has become Simmons' biggest case.

"Sandy's family, they're devastated. Nothing in this process will ever bring Sandy back," said Simmons.

Le and two of her teenage coworkers Alex Castillo and Ahmia Feaster were reported missing in early August. Their families began searching for them immediately following their disappearance.

Le's body was found a couple weeks later. Castillo and Feaster would become persons of interest and then later suspects in the case.

Investigators believe Castillo and Feaster traveled out west together. Le's car was found in Phoenix, Arizona. Police think the teens crossed the border into Mexico. A few months later Feaster turned herself in to authorities in the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced this week that a federal warrant had been issued for Castillo's arrest. He's believed to be in Mexico or El Salvador.

"I can't even begin to imagine all the working pieces, everything you need to do to adhere to international laws in addition to extradite in the process," said Simmons. "It's extremely complicated."

Simmons said that even though Sandy Le's body has been found, her family still has questions and they want Castillo caught.

"At this point I think it's of the utmost importance because the question of why are still out there," said Simmons on catching the suspect.

She urged Castillo to come forward and speak to investigators.

"Turn yourself in. You've created so much heartache for your family let alone Sandy's family. Do the right thing."

Feaster has already been extradited back to Mecklenburg County. She's been indicted on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and accessory after the fact.

Anyone with information about Castillo's whereabouts is asked to contact the FBI office in Charlotte. He is considered armed and dangerous.
