CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Four teenagers are suffering from gunshot wounds after a shooting in northeast Charlotte late Saturday night.
The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night outside of Spice Lounge on 4116 N. Tryon Street.
Police believe the shooting happened in the parking lot of the nightclub where a party was being held. All of the victims are between the ages of 14-16.
The four victims are being treated at Carolinas Medical Center. One is suffering from serious injuries.
"For things to be happening like that around the holidays, and to kids, it just touches my heart. You send your kids out and not know their kids will come back home just to go to a party," said Rojshawn Dontae
Dontae is a chef who rented out Spice Lounge for cooking events until recently.
He says there have been problems at the restaurant and nightclub in the past, which is the reason he doesn't rent out the business anymore.
"I just don't want to associate myself with nonsense like that. I would think they need to close this place down. Ain't nothing good came out of this place since it opened," Dontae said.
According to police, two firearms were found at the scene.
Carnis Poindexter Jr., 16, is charged with possession of a firearm by a minor.
Police also charged a 15-year-old male with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a minor and shooting in the city limits.
The 15-year-old admitted to firing a gun in the air after the shooting happened.
Officials are still investigating to identify the suspect in the shooting.
One business owner in that shopping center, who wanted to remain anonymous, says she has seen fights in the parking lot in the past.
The owner of Spice Lounge spoke to WBTV over the phone. He said whatever happens at parties held at his business are out of his control, and he does not condone the violence that has happened there. He did not want to comment further while the investigation was ongoing.
No names of the victims have been released at this time.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective.
