Keith Lamont Scott's wife releases statement asking for peace after husband's shooting
The wife of Keith Lamont Scott says her family is devastated following the shooting of her husband at the hands of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
In a statement released Wednesday night, Rakeiya Scott said her husband was a "loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed every day."
Rakeiya also asked protesters to remain peaceful after last night's protests turned aggressive.
"As a family, we respect the rights of those who wish to protest, but we ask that people protest peacefully. Please do not hurt people or members of law enforcement, damage property or take things that do not belong to you in the name of protesting," the statement said.

Scott, 43, was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon while Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were serving a warrant at The Village at College Downs apartment complex on the 9600 block of Old Concord Road.
Rakeiya did question statements put out by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chief Kerr Putney and city officials on Wednesday.
"After listening to remarks made by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Putney today, we have more questions than answers about Keith's death. Rest assured, we will work diligently to get answers to our questions as quickly as possible."
Protests continued Wednesday night after city and faith leaders asked protesters to remain peaceful.
