CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A person was found dead inside a vehicle on I-77 in southwest Charlotte Monday, according to Medic.

The person was found inside a vehicle on the side of the roadway on the ramp from I-77 to Arrowood Road, which is Exit 1, after police received a call around 4 p.m. Officials have not released many details, but Medic confirmed the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the car had been in the location it was for less than two days. They said the victim's body was found inside the vehicle, but would only confirm that it was not in the driver's seat or the trunk. They are calling the death "suspicious."

The person's name and age have not been released. Investigators have not said how the person is believed to have died.

From WBTV's Sky3, multiple emergency crews and police could be seen around the vehicle. The ramp was completely closed and taped off at the scene.

"It scares me cause I get off at 3 AM so I just yeah, I'd rather not go out there by myself," said Tammy Jackson, an employee working at a nearby restaurant. "Thank God we all leave as a group."

Jackson said some passersby had mentioned the investigation to her while she was working

"It was a little creepy - made me want to stay inside for sure," said Jackson.

WBTV is working to gather additional information about the case.
