Coach LaMonte Odums grew up around television. Born and raised in Detroit, LaMonte knew that television was the place he would eventually make his mark. His mother worked for WXYZ, an ABC affiliate, where on the weekends she would bring LaMonte to the station.

Every weekend was the same routine: arrive at the station and run to the studio where he would sit in the anchor chair of the legendary Bill Bonds, speaking into the camera, believing in his heart he was making an impact. He admits today that no one was listening but that didn't stop him from talking.

It was at this time that his passion for television was birthed. Every day after school, LaMonte would transform his living room into a makeshift television set. He would then proceed to host his own show entitled "30 Minutes." Each day during his "show" he would faithfully interview three stuffed animals: a teacher, a janitor, and a race car driver. Though this was make-believe, the growing passion inside of him for television was real.

In his teenage years, his family moved to Connecticut where he would become more active in the television industry. Whether working behind the scenes at a local television station WHCT or being featured on-camera in various roles, including a former host of "Black Perspective," a weekly show produced and aired on WVIT (NBC Connecticut), LaMonte always kept the focus of changing lives on the forefront of his mind. As a Certified Master Life Strategist he has worked with individuals from all walks of life, helping them to make lasting and transformative change.

Upon arriving in Charlotte in 2012, Coach began making his mark on local television with WBTV in 2013, where he was a regular featured guest on Saturday mornings. Coach is excited at the opportunity to grow with WBTV and to further his dream of one day pursuing his own talk show.

LaMonte is married to his wife Stacia, father of six children, and grandfather of four. He loves to read, eat, spend time with family, and make people smile.
