Five charged in March Catawba County homicide case
CATAWBA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Five people have been charged in connection to a Catawba County homicide case that happened in March.
Jordan Rivera, 24, and Devin Ussery, 26, were arrested early Friday morning and charged with murder in the killing of Mark Wilson and Diedra Ranseur. Wilson and Ranseur were found on March 14 at a home on Rest Home Road in Conover, according to the police report.
Just before 4 p.m., authorities said three more people had been arrested in connection to the case. William Crawford Powell Jr, Reand Pablo-Antonio Rivera and Arsenio Dewayne Curtis are all charged with two counts of murder.
The victims' bodies were discovered after a relative went to check on them after a day had passed with no word. Ramseur was known to travel to flea markets and sell various items, and it's believed that's where she was until some time the day before.
The sheriff told WBTV that it appears at least one of the suspects knew the victims, and that it was not a random crime. He said it appeared one suspect drove the car and the others went inside, shot the couple and ransacked the home.
When the bodies were discovered there was initial concern about the couple's ten-year-old daughter because she couldn't be found. It turned out she was with a sitter for the weekend and was all right. Still, family members said in March what the girl will have to cope with now is the biggest tragedy in what happened.
"She will be living with this for the rest of her life, not having a mother or father," said Damien Lineberger, a cousin of Wilson.
Rivera and Ussery were arrested Friday and taken to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office.
