LAKE WYLIE, NC (WBTV) - The man missing in Lake Wylie has been found, according to NC Wildlife Commission.
NC state wildlife officers have identified a swimmer missing on Lake Wylie as Conroy Oliver, 30, from Charlotte.
Master Officer Tracy Dula told WBTV that crews believe they located a body late Wednesday night using sonar equipment, but were preparing to send divers into the water Thursday for a recovery.
Dula estimated that they were searching in about 30 feet of water.
The call about a missing swimmer came in just after 5 p.m. from Lake Wylie near the Buster Boyd Bridge, which is on Highway 49 at the North Carolina and South Carolina state line, near YMCA Camp Thunderbird. Officials at the scene said Oliver was with family and friends on a boat when he went into the water.
A YMCA of Greater Charlotte spokesperson told WBTV that the possible victim was not a camper or counselor at YMCA Camp Thunderbird.
Once recovered, Oliver's body will be taken to the medical examiner's office.
