CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Tropical Storm Bonnie has winds of 40 mph this Saturday evening. The storm is currently stationary but will begin moving to the northwest again. It's heading for the South Carolina coast.
By early Sunday morning, the system should reach land and move on shore. The heaviest rain Saturday night and Sunday will obviously be along the SC coast and inland areas adjacent to the coast.
For the WBTV viewing area, that will mean a mainly cloudy Sunday. Highs will scale back to the mid 70s and there is a chance for tropical showers at any time. It won't be raining every minute, but any given minute has the possibility.
The Coca Cola 600 Sunday evening will have about a 40% chance for showers. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s.
If you are making Memorial Day plans, your better bet will likely be on Monday. We should see a bit more sun and highs will be back in the mid 80s as the storm works back up the coast and away from us.
We could still expect showers or a thunderstorm, especially in the afternoon.
