Rowan Co. resident shoots screaming man in front yard, deputies say

A man was injured in a shooting in Rowan County Wednesday night, but deputies don't believe the shooter is at fault.
A man called 911 around 10 p.m. to report that he just shot a man in his front yard, located off of South Long Road in eastern Rowan County.
The caller told deputies that a man, later identified as Jessie Ciancimino, was driving up and down the road screaming out of his window. The resident got up and stepped out on his porch. That's when he says Ciancimino stopped, got out of his car and started walking towards him.
Ciancimino pulled open the man's glass door and punched him in the head, deputies say. That's when the man shot Ciancimino in the leg. "You just shot me," Ciancimino reportedly screamed.
The man's wife, who is a nurse, along with a neighbor, assisted Ciancimino until EMS arrived.
Deputies and EMS arrived to find Ciancimino lying on the ground, screaming at them.
Rowan County EMS took Ciancimino to the hospital with minor injuries.
No one has been charged yet. Deputies say Ciancimino has a criminal record. He told deputies the man called him and told him to come fight him. Deputies say they searched the man's phone and saw no such record.
