The pastor of a Salisbury church has been charged with inappropriately touching a woman he was supposed to be counseling, according to a Salisbury Police report.

Kenneth Darrell Worley, 56, was charged with one count of sexual battery and released on a written promise to appear in court.

Investigators say that the woman made the report to police in February.  She alleges Worley came to her house in order to counsel with her after the two had met at the hospital.

The woman says she and Worley sat at the kitchen table to talk and read the Bible, and at one point they went to sit on the couch. That's when she says the pastor inappropriately touched her.

According to the report, the woman told the pastor to stop and to leave her home.

Worley turned himself in at the police department on Tuesday to be charged.

Worley is the senior pastor of New Hope Baptist Church on Choate Road in Salisbury, according to the church web site.
