Man found shot, killed in front yard of west Charlotte home

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The victim of a west Charlotte shooting has been identified.
Police say 28-year-old Nmateen Doe was found in the front yard of a west Charlotte home suffering from a gunshot wound Saturday morning.
Doe's ex-girlfriend, who did not want to give out her name, says she saw the shooting.
"The gun went off. The gun kept going off," she said. "The last thing I seen was he looked at me and his eyes rolled to the back of his head."
A homicide investigation is underway on Magnasco Lane, near Tuckaseegee Road.
Police say they found the Doe lying in the yard next to a vehicle at 4:39 a.m. He was pronounced dead on scene by MEDIC.
Doe's ex-girlfriend says he was shot inside his car. He drove away from the shooter to try to escape, but crashed into a mailbox in front of a home.
She tells WBTV she held Doe in her arms as he died.
"I just blacked out after that," she said.
Detectives have determined this was not a random act of violence.
Doe's ex-girlfriend says neighbors need to look out for an African American man, around 5'3" tall, with a gap between his two front teeth.
She also says both she and Doe knew the shooter, and Doe even is the reason he has a job.
"It was even a shocker to him. He couldn't believe it was happening," she said.
