GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A Gastonia man is still in critical condition after being shot in the chest Saturday night.

Eduardo Rojas, 40, is fighting for his life at the Caromont Regional Medical Center.

Police have arrested 62-year-old Robert Stauss. Investigators say he shot Rojas at his home on West 10th Avenue Saturday night.

Stauss is being charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of attempted first degree murder.

That attempted first-degree murder charge will be upgraded if Rojas dies.

So far, Gastonia Police Department officials have not released a motive for the shooting, or how Rojas and Stauss knew each other.
