Man arrested in fatal uptown Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police have charged a man with murder in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in uptown Charlotte early Sunday morning.
Labaron Jerrail McCain, 29, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Around 2:40 a.m. Sunday, officers went to the 300 block of E. 3rd Street for an assault call. Once at the scene, they found a man, later identified as 29-year-old Clavis Jamon Reliford, who they said had been shot four times before collapsing in the parking lot behind Hyatt place.
Medic pronounced Reliford dead at the scene. Police believe he was in an altercation with another man when the shooting happened. They do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
Just before 7 p.m., police said they had arrested McCain in connection with Reliford's death. He is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 704-432-TIPS.
