Duke Energy: Thousands lose power in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - More than 7,600 homes were without power in Charlotte Tuesday morning, according to Duke Energy's outage map.

Around 4,299 homes were reported without power just before 3:30 a.m. in east Charlotte, in the area surrounding Sardis Road N at Monroe Road. Traffic lights were also down in the area. Power was restored to the homes by 6 a.m.

Around the same time, 3,316 homes lost power near Ballantyne, in the area near Rea Road at Providence Road. Power was restored to the homes by 8:30 a.m.

No word on exactly what caused the outages.
