CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Raycom Media has named Scott Dempsey as the new Vice President and General Manager at WBTV, Raycom's CBS Affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Dempsey replaces former Vice President and General Manager, Nick Simonette, who was recently promoted to Group Vice President at Raycom Media.

Dempsey has been Raycom Media's Vice President and General Manager at WTOC, the CBS Affiliate in Savannah, Georgia since May of last year.  Prior to his appointment as General Manager, Dempsey served as WTOC's Director of Sales from 2011 to 2014.

Dempsey's broadcasting experience includes serving as Director of Sales for WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida, Sales Manager at WABC-TV in New York and Director of Sales for ABC National Sales in Detroit.  Dempsey began his broadcasting career here in Charlotte as an account executive at Blair Television. He also lived in the Queen City when he was Sales Manager for ABC National.

Raycom Media Senior Vice President Jeff Rosser announced Dempsey's appointment on Monday with the following statement:

"I'm very excited that Scott and his wife Lisa will soon be returning to Charlotte where they both have many fond memories.  Scott is an excellent addition to an already great team at WBTV.  WBTV is fortunate to have Scott as their new Vice President and General Manager, but Scott is the most fortunate, as he inherits a team and station that has accomplished so much and already has such positive momentum in one of the greatest cities in America."

Dempsey will assume his new duties in Charlotte in early November.
