ANSON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - The person shot and killed by an Anson County deputy Friday has been identified as Kim Lee Long, the SBI released Monday.

According to the SBI, deputy Donald Jenks responded to Stanbackferry Ice Plant Road in Wadesboro, NC around 11 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from Long's estranged wife, alleging a domestic violence encounter with Long.

While Jenks was looking into the call, "events that unfolded resulted in the officer fatally wounding the male suspect," the sheriff's office said.

The SBI is conducting the investigation into the deputy's actions which is standard procedure in these cases. Then, the case will be turned over to District Attorney Reese Saunders for review.

Jenks has been with the Anson County Sheriff's Office since 2003.

Anyone with information or that may have been in the area at the time indicated may contact authorities at 704-694-7083.
