Ambulance catches fire on I-85 in Rowan County

ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Three people inside an ambulance that caught fire on I-85 Thursday morning are safe.

The driver called 911 to report the fire around 10 a.m. It happened near the Long Ferry Road exit in east Spencer. Two medics and a patient were on board.

Several fire departments responded to put out the fire.

An investigation is underway to determine why the ambulance burst into flames.
