CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - A man injured in a two-vehicle crash early Monday morning in Concord passed away at the hospital Tuesday. A 54-year-old woman also died after police say she lost control of her vehicle.

The crash happened along Branchview Drive north of Old Airport Road around 7:19 a.m. Police say Catherine Marie Ivey reportedly lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line, striking a the front end of a convertible being driven by 29-year-old Stephen Joel Barnhardt.

Ivey was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Barnhardt was transported to Carolinas Medical Center- Main, where died early Tuesday afternoon.

Barnhardt's family told WBTV he had just gotten married five months before he was killed.

There were no passengers in either of the vehicles at the time of the crash and, investigators said, it did not appear that speed or impairment was a contributing factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
