RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) - A North Carolina State University football player was arrested by Raleigh Police Tuesday night after a moped accident near campus.

Raleigh Police say Shadrach Thornton was riding a moped along Western Boulevard, when he struck someone who was walking on the sidewalk.

The victim is expected to be OK.

Before the season started, the running back was suspended for two games for a violation of athletic department rules.

A team spokeswoman said the unspecified violation from earlier this year happened during the spring semester.

That was the third suspension for Thornton, who sat out the 2013 opener after being charged with misdemeanor assault on a female.

In December of 2013, the head coach Dave Doeren suspended him after authorities cited him for drug possession.

Thornton just returned to action against Old Dominion this season after serving his most recent two-game suspension.
