LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) - Three people were injured in a bad vehicle accident in Lancaster Wednesday. One of the injured was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital.

The crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Highway 200 near JB Denton Road when officials said two cars struck head-on. From WBTV's Sky 3, both vehicles appeared to have suffered major damage.

Investigators said that one car, driven by 23-year-old Jerry Freeman, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Two women, ages 78 and 41, were taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Freeman, officials said, was flown by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. All three patients had to be extricated from their vehicles.

It is not clear how severe any injuries are, and no conditions have been released.

Officials have not said if any charges are being filed.
