CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A local mother is fearing for her life because of an ex-boyfriend she says is determined to kill her.

Robert Barringer has been arrested multiple times in the past week. Once, police say, for shooting at the woman's house in Hidden Valley. But somehow, Barringer keeps getting out of jail.

"I can't sleep. I'm losing my mind," the woman said. Fearing for her safety, the she asked WBTV to conceal her identity.

To find the source of her terror, look no further than the bent metal bars on the front of her house and the window glass shattered by bullets.

"He bent that bar with a cinder block right there. Shot three gun shots in the back window and the kids was in the bed," she said.

She says she living in a nightmare that Barringer could come back at any moment.

"It's like I'm a dream. It's like I'm a walking death wish because he's not only targeting me, but my kids," she said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested Barringer not long after they say he shot into her house multiple times last Thursday.

"He's a known gang member, drug dealer - the police know this," the woman said.

But just three days later, he bonded out, coming back to the house where the woman says he pointed a gun at her nine-year-old son.

"Why would you want to hurt children. I could see me, but not my kids," she said.

WBTV has learned Barringer has a lengthy record dating all the way back to 1991. Police sources tell WBTV Barringer is no stranger to them.

So the question the woman has is, how is he being given the chance to bond out over and over?

"I don't know if it's someone in the jailhouse knows him or what they do," she said. "I really don't know but he's getting out too quick, like it's nothing."

Barringer was arrested again on Monday. But his ex-girlfriend worries he won't stay there

"I'm in fear for my life. What is it going to take for ya'll to see that this man is targeting me and is going to kill me?" she asked.

Barringer is being held as of Tuesday night on a nearly $200,000 bond for possession of a firearm by a felon and assault by pointing a gun.

Add those to the long list of charges he's facing for the other incidents.
