Drivers injured when car and feed truck collide in Union County

UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - One person was seriously injured in a violent collision near Wingate Wednesday involving a feed truck.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Olive Branch and Austin Chaney Roads when a passenger car struck a feed truck. According to troopers, the car was traveling south on Austin Chaney Rd when the driver ran a stop sign and collided with the truck.

The driver of the car, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Union before being flown to Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte. Their condition has not been released.

Investigators say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the feed truck suffered minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

No names have been released.

Officials have not said if any charges are being filed. The State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
