Vehicle fire causes major delay on I-85

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - Traffic was backed up Tuesday after a car caught fire on the interstate just before rush hour.

The incident happened on northbound I-85 near exit 60, which is the Dale Earnhardt Blvd/Copperfield Blvd NE exit in Concord.

From WBTV's Sky 3, the vehicle, which appeared to be a 4-door sedan, could be seen just off the roadway. The vehicle, along with the brush and area around it, were charred black from the fire.

Officials have not said what may have caused the fire or if anyone was injured.

Traffic on I-85 was backed up considerably while crews worked the scene.
