Toyota of North Charlotte share defensive driving at night tips!
Driving at night can be more dangerous than driving during the day, but sometimes it's just unavoidable! Night driving can be riskier because as a driver you have less visibility and your depth perception is crippled. You can make your night travels safer with these defensive driving tips from Toyota of North Charlotte!
- Use your headlights! An hour before the sun goes down, ensure your headlights are on and working properly! Not only is it the law, but it’s extremely important so you can maintain visibility of the road in front of you. If your headlights are on, you can see other drivers and they can see you! If you’re on dark road with little to no traffic, use your high beams for maximum visibility.
- Don’t ignore that sleepy feeling! If you’re feeling exhausted or fatigued, do not drive! Sometimes driving at night can have a hypnotizing effect on a driver causing them to drift off to sleep while behind the wheel. Do NOT get behind the wheel if you are feeling tired! Rest up before driving at night.
- Maintain space between your N Charlotte Toyota and other vehicles. Defensive driving requires being alert and aware of other drivers on the road. Keep a safe distance between your new Toyota and the car in front of you so you have more reaction time for sudden braking or swerving.
- NEVER drink and drive! Driving while intoxicated is illegal and extremely dangerous. It is unsafe for you, those in your car, and for anyone on the road around you. Do not get behind the wheel if you have been drinking. Call a cab or have a friend come pick you up!
