LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A woman who recently found out she is pregnant is resting at home Wednesday night after her car was completely cut in half in an accident on Highway 321.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. on Highway 321 near the Gaston and Lincoln County lines.

Firefighters said the 20-year-old woman was driving on 321 when she crossed the median and was sideswiped by a Suburban. The woman's car was completely cut in half by the SUV.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene the woman had to be cut from the car. Firefighters said while rescuing the woman, they noticed a pregnancy test lying on the ground. The test had just come back positive shortly before the wreck.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital where doctors confirmed she and the baby would be okay. She was released with minor injuries and was said to be resting at home.

Firefighters said they are amazed the woman's injuries were not more severe.

Officials have not said if any charges are being filed.
