CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Fire crews responded to a large commercial fire in northwest Charlotte, at an old paint facility.

The Charlotte Fire Department said there was a possible collapse with "multiple explosions."

The fire broke out around 6:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Valleydale Road.

?"There were some small explosions from probably small cans of paint and we're going to continue to look through the rubble to see what else we have," the battalion chief  on scene,Tim Ramsey, said.

Fire officials are working to determine what may have caused the fire.

"It was pretty big but it was a metal building and it only can get so big and unfortunately it was very well involved before we got here," Ramsey said.
