No charges filed after man hit, injured by car in Gastonia

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) - No charges are being filed after a pedestrian was struck and critically injured by a car in Gastonia early Tuesday morning, officials say.

The accident happened around 3:15 a.m. near a QuickTrip convenience store on East Long Avenue at Broad Street. Mark David Featherstone Sr., 50, reportedly walked into the lanes of travel and was struck by a Toyota Camry, driven by a 20-year-old woman.

Medic took Featherstone to CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was later transferred to Carolinas Medical Center with critical injuries.

Officials say the driver of the car did stop and that speed and impairing substances were not contributing factors in the accident.

Anyone with information or who saw Featherstone prior to the accident is asked to call officers at 704-866-6967.
