SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - A Charlotte man is under arrest in Salisbury, accused of trying to sell counterfeit tickets to the Duke/UNC basketball game.
Salisbury Police say they got a contact from police in Carrboro that Chancy Withro Sherrill, III, 52, of Booker Avenue in Charlotte, was advertising the tickets on the Craigslist web site.
Officers set up a meeting with Sherrill at the Waffle House on Jake Alexander Boulevard on Tuesday.
According to the report, Sherrill produced what appeared to be four tickets to the game and asked for $2000 in return.
Sherrill was arrested, charged with criminal use of a counterfeit trademark and obtaining property by false pretense. He was jailed under $15,000 bond.
Police say when they searched the gray car that Sherrill was driving, they also found what appeared to be tickets to Carolina Panthers games and to the Duke/Syracuse basketball game.
