Massive fire threatens Lincoln County businesses, shuts down roads

DENVER, NC (WBTV) - A blaze that started as a brush fire is threatening a Lincoln County businesses after shutting down roads on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Universal Rubber Products Inc. near Highway 16 in Denver, NC, was in flames. The fire broke out around 4 p.m. on Forest Oaks Drive.

A reported 87 firefighters responded to the scene to control the blaze.

Images from the scene show flames billowing out of the plant. There are reports of the fire spreading to several tractor trailers nearby.

Lanes of Highways 16 and 73 were shut down as crews battle the large area impacted.
