Man charged after drug-related double shooting leaves one dead


CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man faces multiple charges after a drug-related double shooting left one man dead Wednesday afternoon in east Charlotte.
Police charged 34-year-old Jacob Hill in connection with the shooting death of 26-year-old Darrell Hames. The shooting sent another man, whose name is not being released, to CMC in critical condition.
The shooting, that police are calling drug-related, happened on the 3200 block of Shamrock Drive around 4 p.m. Medic pronounced Hames dead at the scene and the other man was found nearby, on Michigan Avenue.
Officers spotted Hill near the scene and took him to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives. Hill is charged with murder, attempted robbery, trafficking cocaine, second-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.
Hill remains in custody at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
