Homeowners find back porch on fire early Monday

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Two people say they smelled smoke and found their back porch on fire just after 1 a.m. Monday.
The homeowners left the house and called officials to 1813 Brewton Drive off of Oaklawn Avenue. Fire officials say the fire destroyed the back porch and moved into the kitchen before they were able to control the flames. They say most of the home is damaged from smoke, water and fire.
The Charlotte Fire Department is investigating what caused the fire. Red Cross is assisting the displaced homeowners.
No one was injured in the fire.
