CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Kay Hagan's message and Thom Tillis's position are aired hundreds of times a day. As it relates to the Hagan Tills race, voters are saying turn the volume down on so many television commercials.

One viewer told WBTV, "From a viewer's standpoint, there's a lot of false claims and you've got to investigate the veracity of that."

Michael Dickerson who is the Mecklenburg County Elections Supervisor says the U.S. Senate Race is what's energizing voters to the polls this November. "I would assume that is one of your major drivers since that's at the top of the ticket," he said.

It is such a driver that the mail bag at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections stays heavy.

Dickerson has noticed members of his staff have processed somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,500 absentee ballots. "It's a pretty contentious race," he said, "So we're considered a battle ground state."

When it comes to this senate race, observers estimate that it will top the $30 million mark, but those with ballots to be counted feel other needs could be met.

Voter Susan Schwint asks, "How many children you could shelter, and homeless people you could help with that money?" Pollsters say many voters have already made their choices.

Meanwhile, voters also said it's not just the flood of television ads that's bothering them, but they're also being hit with a flurry of the so called robo calls.
