Earthquake rattles SC town; no report of damage

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - The U.S. Geological Survey reports a weak earthquake has shaken the Aiken area.

The service reported the epicenter of the magnitude 2.6 earthquake was about three miles northwest of New Ellenton. There have been no reports of injuries or damages. It was reported at 4:38 p.m. Friday.

According to the Aiken Standard, residents reported feeling or hearing the earthquake in several areas of Aiken County.
