Woman dies after crashed car catches fire near Mint Hill

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A woman has been identified after the car she crashed caught fire and she was killed near Mint Hill.

According to Charlotte police, the crash happened along the 11800 block of Brief Road Wednesday morning around 6:23 a.m.

Police say 23-year-old Inna Petrovna Dimova was driving east on Brief Road when she lost control of the car when she was driving around a curve.

Her Mazda 3 crossed the double yellow line and turned sideways. The vehicle crossed into the path of a 2006 Ford F-450 and construction truck head on and was hit on the passenger side by the truck.

Investigators say they vehicle to then caught on fire and burned.

Dimova was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The driver and passenger of the Ford F-450 were not injured.

This crash is under investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Any witnesses are being asked to call Detective Kevin Allred at 704-432-2169.
