HUNTERSVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A woman was taken to the hospital after being impaled by a pole from a gate at a Huntersville school.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. on Friday at Hopewell High School, which is on the 11500 block of Beatties Ford Road.
Firefighters say a woman was driving when a gust of wind blew a gate open. That gate struck the woman's car, penetrated through the passenger headlight and firewall into the engine, then into the driver's seat and the driver.
The driver was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
The victim's name has not been released.
