CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - One person was killed Friday after a vehicle accident in south Charlotte involving a motorcycle and a car.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. Friday night near the intersection of Wendover Road and Marvin Road.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says Vincent Bernard Johnson was driving a 2006 Suzuki Motorcycle south on N. Wendover Road in the left lane towards the intersection of Marvin Road. Ronald Eugene Hoey was driving a 2004 Cadillac Deville on N. Wendover Road. Hoey was stopped in the left turn to make a left onto Marvin Road. At this point, CMPD says, Hoey made his turn and Johnson entered the intersection causing both vehicles to collide.

MEDIC responded and pronounced Mr. Johnson deceased at the scene. Hoey was not injured and released from the scene.

The CMPD Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the crash scene to conduct an investigation. Alcohol is not a contributing factor in the crash. At this time, speed does appear to be a contributing factor, however, the crash remains under investigation pending the crash reconstruction.

If you have any information about this incident is asked to contact Detective J. B. Reibold with the Major Crash Investigation Unit at 704-336-3229.
