MATTHEWS, NC (WBTV) - Paula Fricke is the recipient for the 2013 Director's Community Leadership Award (DCLA) for North Carolina.

Fricke received the award Saturday morning in Matthews at Colonel Francis Beatty Park.

Officials at the FBI say John Strong, an agent in charge of the Charlotte division, chose Fricke for the award.

According to a press release, Fricke is the president of "Trips for Kids Charlotte" a non-profit that provides mentoring to 10-15 year old children through bicycling experiences.

The mission of the program is to use biking as a way to help children build character traits like respect, honesty, and teamwork.
