TAYLORSVILLE, NC (WBTV) - The skeletal remains of a man missing from an assisted living facility have been found behind an abandoned hospital in Taylorsville.

According to the Taylorsville Police Department, a town employee was bush hogging the area behind the old hospital on NC Hwy 16 on Monday.

The man noticed a pair of boots in a clearing and walked over to take a look. That's when he realized it was the skeletal remains of a human and called police.

Investigators believe the remains belong to Kevin McDonagh, a missing resident from "A New Outlook" assisted living facility in Taylorsville.

McDonagh was reported missing in April 2013.

According to police, the skeletal remains were sent to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to determine the cause of death.
