MORGANTON, NC (WBTV) - Protestors are gathering outside of a Morganton business to protest the company's policy on fracking.
The protestor's have tried to block the gate where trucks enter and exit at Momentive Specialty Chemicals on Industrial Avenue.
WBTV's Kay Johnson reports that police have arrested several protestors.
Police have moved the protestors down the street so the business can run as normal.
"We are here to send a message to the oil and gas industries: we will not stand idly by as you destroy this land, or any other, for your personal profit. Respect existence, or expect resistance," said a Croatan Earth First! activist.
The group says they chose Momentive because the company distributes resin coated proppants, a necessary component for fracking, according to the group's news release.
The NC legislative currently has a moratorium on fracking in North Carolina until March of 2015.
